Textbook

The course textbook is Kittel and Kroemer, Thermal Physics . Copies are on sale in the UofT Bookstore.

Over the years, I have learned by experience that the vast majority of physics undergraduate students prefer to have lectures based on one textbook (or equivalent source), rather than on distributed textbooks and various other sources. We will therefore be using the general outline of the material in the first 7-8 chapters of the course textbook. I and the TA will of course be presenting it with our own distinct perspective and analysis.

Other relevant texts are on reserve in the Library.

(Note: Students who become bored with the course textbook should carefully study these other textbooks, and ask me for additional material to run with. In fairness, though, no extra grade credit can be assigned to this type of additional activity. It would be purely for intellectual satisfaction.)
